    • Current position: Temporary (3 years contract) Assistant Professor in Telecommunications (RTD a – according to the Italian law n. 240, 30.12.2010) at the Department of Information Engineering of the Università Politecnica delle Marche. Contract duration: from 14/12/2012 to 13/12/2015. Contract has been renewed for 2 years, until 13/12/2017.
    • Since 12/22/2004: Co-founder and R&D assistant of the Academic spinoff company ArieLAB Srl, operating in the telecommunications field, with R&D activities on SW and HW components for the Digital Terrestrial Television, and Ambient Assisted Living systems and applications. From 21/01/2010 to 20/03/2013 she has been the CEO of the company. She is member of the company Board of Directors since the company was established.
    • Since 09/05/2012: Co-founder and R&D assistant of the Academic spinoff company DowSee Srl, working in the field of wireless sensor networks for metering and monitoring in distributed plants and grids (water, gas, power), based on Energy Harvesting techniques. R&D projects and technology transfer activities

  • Within the activities of the spinoff company ArieLAB Srl, Susanna has been involved in several R&D projects related to the development of HW/SW architectures and applications, to support independent and healthy living of elderly at home, or disabled people. Among them it is possible to mention:
    1. project “XENO: integrated home and building automation system”, focused on the definition and design of an hybrid architecture for home and building automation based on heterogeneous communication technologies (CAN bus, Ethernet, WiFi);
    2. project “ORTRO: integrated system to assist visually impaired and hearing impaired people”, in joint cooperation with other companies and Università Politecnica delle Marche;
    3. project “TALED: home teleassistance system”, in joint cooperation with Università Politecnica delle Marche, for the design of a home set top box able to deliver remote assistance services through the DVB-T platform. The project has been co-funded by the Marche Region public administration;
    4. project “SMRT: residential multi-platform solution for remote assistance and help”, co-funded by Lombardia Region public administration, in joint cooperation with Università Politecnica delle Marche and Pirelli Broadband Solutions SpA.
  • Susanna actively participated as a Researcher in the project “TRASPARENTE: technologies for assistive networks aimed at independent living of elderly,” co-funded by INRCA (Institute for the Research and Care of Elderly People), and Marche Region public administration (decision 381/DGEN, 20.12.2012), in joint cooperation with Università Politecnica delle Marche, Università di Camerino, and a consortium of SMEs. Project duration: February 2013 – February 2015.
  • Susanna is currently involved as an R&D assistant for ArieLAB in the activities related to the project “SHELL: shared interoperable ecosystems for enhanced living environments,” duration 01/01/2014 – 01/01/2017, co-funded by the Italian Ministry of Economics and Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, in the framework of the action on National Technology Clusters.
  • Susanna participates in the AAL – JP co-funded project “HOME-based ICT solutions FOR the independent living of people with DEMentia and their caregivers – The Home4Dem project”, (01/09/2015 – 01/09/2017) as a staff member of the UNIVPM research unit.
  • During the past, as a research consultant for ArieLAB, Susanna has been involved in the development of software applications for interactive services delivered over the DVB-T platform, and she has provided courses on the same topic to public and private entities (Ar-TEL in Arezzo (IT), Accenture Italy in Rome (IT)).
